1. Naam Japna- Pray and meditate, Always keep a God in mind.

2. Kirat Karna- Work with honesty. Earn a living, never involve in activities like gambling, begging or working in tobacco industries.

3. Vand Chakkna- In the Sikh religion, giving something as charity and caring for others is another duty to be done as a Sikh Individual.

THE SIKH IDENTITY

The Turban are an important part of the Sikh Identity. Sikh Men always wear a turban, while the women who have taken the name of God (Amrit Chakkna) wear turbans. Both Sikh men and women have equal rights to be enjoyed. This represents equality among gender and showing respect towards God. The Turban is considered a gift given by the Gurus.

Some people believe that a turban is worn like a hat, but it is not the truth. The turban is a piece of cloth, which is typically upto six yards long and two yards wide. The length of the turban cloth matters from person to person. The turban is wrapped concentrically around the head for 5 to 6 times to give a good shape of the turban. Turban is the pride and faith of the Sikh Religion. The Sikhs are exempted to wear helmets in India. Similarly, the Sikh soldiers should not wear a steel helmets.

In a Sikh family, a sikh boy after attaining the age of sixteen, he is taken to a Gurudwara and in the presence of GURU GRANTH SAHIB JI  and the following ARDAAS, his first ceremonially turban is tied by the eldest memeber of the Gurudwara. He is told the importance of keeping long hair and tying a turban. This ceremony is called the DASTAR BANDI CEREMONY.

So, it is the duty of the Sikh individuals to maintain the faith, the pride and the traditions going on from the last several years.
